Description
Description
The name Kotowa comes from an indigenous word meaning “mountains.” The farms honor the legacy of Alexander Duncan Macintyre, who began the family’s coffee tradition in Boquete in the early 1900s. Inspired by the valley’s cool climate, volcanic soils, and vibrant community, he established a heritage that has now been carried on for four generations.
Today, Kotowa continues to follow this tradition with great care. During harvest, only the ripest cherries are hand-selected, pulped with pristine spring water, and sun-dried at 1,700 meters or gently dried below 45°C. After resting for a minimum of two months, the beans are meticulously sorted and cupped daily to uphold the hallmark of Kotowa quality.
Every bag is fully traceable, marked with a unique code that documents each stage of farming and processing, ensuring transparency and excellence from seed to cup.
